Post Card from Okinawa

Okinawa island is the fifth largest island in Japan; there are 150 islands in the Okinawa Prefecture. It is located between Taiwan and the Japan main island. The islands are popular vacation destinations for Asian tourists because of the tropical climate, beaches, and coral reefs. 

We visited Naha on Okinawa island and Ishigaki City on Ishigaki island. We didn’t spend time on the beaches, but we did enjoy the cities and local culture. Okinawa island was the site of a massive Allied invasion during the closing months of World War II (1945) and there is still a US base on the island.
